The Artist

Adriana Torres, artist, illustrator and founder of Miga de Pan studied architecture and graphic design at the University of Buenos Aires.  (Instagram:  @soymigadepan)

Her label was selected by Ministry of Foreign Affairs to be part of the national pavilions at 100% Design London, Maison & Object Paris, and Pitti Bimbo in Italy representing Argentine design. She received the first prize in the national contest of artisans organized by the “National Fund for the Arts”, part of the Cultural National Secretary of Argentina in the category "Contemporary Textile Doll Making".

Adriana has taught several embroidery workshops worldwide.

She participated with her embroidery artworks at several collective art exhibitions in Buenos Aires, Paris and Leipzig.

 

The Workshop

This workshop explores Adriana’s design of hand embroidery A-Z floral lettering.

In this personalized workshop each student will be able to learn the stitches you like from the sampler. You’ll learn to combine different thicknesses and amounts of strands according to each stitch. This way of working gives the embroidery a rich textural aesthetic and strong aspect of simplicity, typical of Adriana’s style.

You'll learn Adriana’s tricks, and will work on a previously silkscreened fabric, which makes the task much more pleasant.

Each workshop is suitable for all, from beginners to experienced stitchers who wish to take their needlework to the next level.

Materials provided - a 50 cm x 55 cm silkscreened cotton fabric with the A-Z floral design, a suitable needle, wool threads from La Patagonia and a print with the alphabet to create your own typographic embroidery.
