In this workshop, participants will play with colour, learn foundational weaving structures and leave on the day with a woven artwork ready to display.
The morning will centre around learning woven structures through weaving with coloured papers. We’ll play with colour combinations and structures to see how this results in intricate woven patterns. We’ll then work from reference photos, or your own inspiration, to build colour palettes with yarn.
In the afternoon we’ll focus on creating small-scale woven artworks, wrapping and weaving with yarn. The process is purposefully slow and meditative, bringing together the technical weaving skill and colour palettes developed throughout the day. Participants will leave with one or more woven artworks and the knowledge needed to keep developing this practice at home.
This workshop is an exciting mix of technique and creativity with colour. It is suitable for complete beginners or those with some knowledge of weaving and all materials are included.
