Helen Hallows is a restless landscape artist who wishes that every day could be spent in the studio. Reluctant to limit herself, being a mixed-media artist allows her to endlessly try new combinations of materials and keep on experimenting.
Known for her landscapes, these have moved towards abstraction where she enjoys the combinations of textures and marks to express the world. Working intuitively, the process has become the focus, dancing with the ‘what ifs’ and inviting in the accidental and unexpected.

The Workshop

A mixed-media workshop encouraging a focus on process and play. Helen creates her layered artworks with papers that she paints and prints in the studio. Today will give you the tools and time to build your paper stash for art and collage making. Techniques will include paint and print (mono and block-printing) over paint. Design development will be guided through curiosity and exploration on a theme of your choice. You can work on fabric if you wish. Helen is an encouraging tutor who believes there is no such thing as a creative mistake and will get you making bolder more confident marks and pages full of excitement!
