Summoning Spring with Helen Hallows – 5 April 2025

Helen Hallows is a restless landscape artist who wishes that every day could be spent making. Reluctant to limit herself, her art crosses genres and she works with paint, textiles, and more recently ceramics.

Known for her landscapes, these have moved towards abstraction where she enjoys the combinations of textures and marks to express the world. Working intuitively, the process has become the focus, dancing with the ‘what ifs’ and inviting in the accidental and unexpected.

The workshop

Help mixed-media artist Helen Hallows summon the spring on this day of exploring print and collage using imagery of the season. Birds, nests and eggs will be the starting point for drawing in bold and confident shape. These will be interpreted with monoprint and stamping, layering paint, print and collage to create a range of experimental pieces that can be made into cards or mounted.

Helen is an encouraging and enabling tutor who helps you get through creative blocks and work in an intuitive way that focuses on process and play. Get away from perfection and embrace what happens!
