Windowsill / Ben’s Pots with Mandy Pattullo – 26 & 27 April 2025 – Fully booked, please email to be added to waiting list

Mandy Pattullo is a Northumberland based artist who creates textile collages. All of her work is hand stitched and she uses old and reclaimed textiles or transforms ordinary cloth through paint and simple print making as in this workshop.

Mandy has written two books “Textile Collage” and “Textiles Transformed” which are published by Batsford.

The Workshop

The content of this course will be very much influenced by the drawings and paintings that Ben Nicholson did of pots, jugs and windowsills. We will use his palette of muddy brown, beiges, grey and white with a touch of blue and you will be presented with a beautiful collection of hand painted fabrics and textures to build up your own compositions.  Your fabrics will become even more interesting in the first part of the course as you add marks and textures with some table-top printing and resist work. We move on in the afternoon to construct stitched backgrounds which will provide the windowsill related context for your pot shapes. Day Two will be all about stitching as you add graphic forms and silhouettes of plants to your pots. Mandy will demonstrate how she creates these through observation and drawing.  As ever Mandy will bring inspirational samples of her work and provide you with many techniques and ideas that you can develop further.
